República Dominicana es la potencia turística de todo el Caribe insular. Esta media isla, ubicada en el mismo trayecto del sol, como dijo el poeta nacional dominicano Pedro Mir, a los 18 grados de latitud norte, Trópico de Cáncer, posee una eterna primavera y una diversidad natural sin igual en el planeta.
Las más hermosas y paradisíacas playas, en el norte, sur y oriente del país con impresionantes resorts todo incluido de clase mundial, para quienes buscan turismo de arena, sol y playa.
Para los que prefieren el turismo ecológico y de montaña, República Dominicana cuenta con el Pico Duarte, a 3098 metros sobre el nivel del mar, es el más alto de toda la región, ciudades de montaña como Constanza y Jarabacoa, donde se puede disfrutar de un clima fresco y agradable todo el año, pero también hay una gran diversidad de flora, fauna, bosques naturales, ríos limpios, no contaminados.
Para los que prefieren el turismo cultural-histórico, es bueno saber que América, el llamado Nuevo Mundo, comenzó en lo que hoy es República Dominicana, especialmente en Isabela, Puerto Plata, donde se construyó la primera ciudad, que recomiendo restaurar.
Los primacias de América están aquí, la mayoría en la Ciudad Colonial, declarada Patrimonio de la Humanidad por la UNESCO: la primera universidad, la primera catedral, etc. El mejor ámbar del mundo, único en todo el planeta, aún tenemos Larimar, otra piedra preciosa de la isla, ya todo ello le sumamos la calidez, alegría y vocación de servicio del pueblo dominicano.
Ya con esto, República Dominicana es uno de los destinos más atractivos del mundo, por su diversidad, ya que todo se puede hacer en un espacio territorial relativamente pequeño, donde ningún lugar se encuentra a más de 3 horas de otro.
Ahora el país se prepara, con el apoyo e iniciativa del Ministerio de Turismo y su ministro David Collado, así como del sector privado y hasta de la academia que se ocupa del turismo, para promover el turismo empresarial y el turismo de negocios.
En otras palabras, que el turista además de vacacionar, disfrutar de las playas, la ecología, la cultura, etc., pueda realizar paseos, visitas, reuniones de trabajo, reuniones de negocios, torneos de golf, en un ambiente relajado, cómodo, sin presiones.
Para ello el país se prepara, con polos ya desarrollados como Casa de Campo, Punta Cana y Cap Cana, y con los que aún están por desarrollar, como Pedernales, para organizar cumbres, foros internacionales del más alto nivel y preponderancia mundial. Adelante, el presidente Luis Abinader y el ministro David Collado tienen la visión y la determinación.
