El politólogo y experto en Relaciones Internacionales, Luis Gonzalez, elogió el papel de mediación que ha jugado la nación de Turquía en el conflicto Rusia-Ucrania.
Al evaluar los pasos recientes de política exterior de Turquía, González dijo lo siguiente con respecto al papel de Turquía en reunir a los ministros de Relaciones Exteriores de Rusia y Ucrania con motivo del Foro Diplomático de Antalya dijo: “teniendo en cuenta que es parte de la OTAN, Turquía ha sido uno de los pocos países, quizás incluso el único, que puede enviar un mensaje de equilibrio al insistir en resolver el problema y tratar de resolver el problema por medios diplomáticos. Un ejemplo de estos son los dos partidos de Rusia y Ucrania como parte del Foro de Diplomacia de Antalya este año. Así es como logró reunir al ministro de Relaciones Exteriores».
González afirmó que el papel de Turquía como mediador entre Rusia y Ucrania en los últimos tiempos también ha sido fundamental en un acuerdo para la entrega de cereales a los mercados mundiales, y que esta posición especial de «tratar de resolver los conflictos pacíficamente a través de canales diplomáticos» le da a Turquía un especial estado y se debe insistir en ello.
Por otro lado, el diplomático recomendó un foro de Antalya solo para países latinoamericanos, como forma de aumentar y fortalecer las relaciones con la región.
Señaló que, en la República Dominicana, el embajador de Turquía en Santo Domingo, Yeşim Kebapcıoğlu, trabaja arduamente para mejorar las relaciones bilaterales, y en ese sentido si se usa la experiencia del Foro de Diplomacia de Antalya en Turquía, dirigido solo a países latinoamericanos esta acción pudiera fomentar las relaciones.
